Allen & Heath AH-WZ4 14:4:2 MixWizard4 14:4:2 Mixer

Allen & Heath AH-WZ414:4:2

The MixWizard WZ4 14:4:2 from Allen & Heath is a desk/rack mountable professional-grade live sound mixer with ten mic/line inputs, 48V phantom power, and balanced XLR/TRS jacks. It can be used in scenarios where you don't need a lot of channels for applications such as microphones, keyboards, and equally at home for sound re-enforcement, on monitors, music playback systems, and more.

The WZ4 14:4:2 is built with two dual-stereo channels, a 4-band EQ with 2 sweepable mids, and 100mm faders. Furthermore, it has 12-segment bargraph metering, six aux sends, and a QCC connector system for easy desktop, rack, or flightcase mounting.

This fourth generation MixWizard console includes the option to fit a multichannel USB interface with a 16-channel soundcard for easy multitrack recording and 2-track playback.

Three Modes of Operation

The WZ4 14:2 can be easily configured to run as a FOH or monitor desk, or even a combination for those times when you need to mix monitors and FOH from the same desk.

1.  FOH

In FoH Mode, the 4 groups with inserts, 100mm faders and XLR outputs can be routed and panned to the LR mix for flexible sub-mixing. The main LR mix has inserts, separate left and right faders, and XLR outputs to feed the main speaker system. EQ and signal processing can easily be inserted on group and main outputs.

2.  Monitor

In Monitor Mode, the aux mixes are routed to the group and LR faders, inserts and XLR outputs. The AFL and PFL system is switched to the Mono output to provide an engineer’s ‘wedge’ output. In essence, it’s a perfect 6-mix monitor console with additional outputs available from the group busses via the aux master controls.

3.  Dual

In Dual Mode some auxes can be used as monitor mixes and some sub-grouping can be used along with the main LR outputs, allowing the engineer to run FoH sound and some Monitor mixes from the same console.

Clean and Detailed Sound

The MixWizard4 preamp delivers extremely low noise, minimal distortion, wide yet smooth gain law and plenty of headroom. The preamp was developed by leading analogue designer Mike Griffin and is adapted from the design used on our legendary large-format analogue consoles.

Comprehensive Aux System

All MixWizard4 models offer a generous 6 auxes, each with its own master level rotary control and impedance-balanced TRS outputs. A clever monitoring system lets you listen to aux outputs in mono or in stereo pairs. Auxes 1-2 are routed pre-fade for monitors; auxes 3-4 are switchable pre or post-fade for monitors, FX or additional recording or zone feeds; and auxes 5-6 are routed post-fader for FX and aux-fed sub. These pre/post settings can be changed via internal jumpers.

Fits Anywhere

Our unique QCC (Quick Change Connectors) system lets you swiftly change the position of the connector panel to suit desktop, rack or flight case mounting. The hard plastic side trims can also be removed to reveal the integral rack ears.

Flexible Stereo Routing

On WZ4 14:4:2 and WZ4 12:2, two dual stereo channels with TRS connectors and independent gain controls are included for FX returns and stereo line sources. One stereo input can feed straight to LR, so providing extra returns. The stereo channels feature a 4-band EQ and can be routed to all 6 auxiliary sends.
